Dr. med. Falk Thielemann

Doctor Falk Thielemann is chief of the department of pediatric orthopaedics and traumatology in the University Hospital of Dresden and is also a senior physician in the center of general orthopaedics there.

He studied medicine in the Humboldt University at the Charité Hospital in Berlin, in Technical University of Dresden, as well as in Marseille, Geneva, and Toronto. Thereafter, he worked as assisting surgeon in a hospital in Pirna and as research associate at the University Hospital of Dresden.

 

The main field of research and clinical practice of dr. Thielemann is pediatric orthopaedics and reconstructive surgery of extremities:

  • Shoulders and hands – stabilization of shoulders, osteochondrosis of elbows, inborn and posttraumatic postural defects
  • Head, neck, spine – twisted neck, scoliosis, dislocation of vertebra, juvenile dorsal kyphosis, back pain
  • Legs – false curvature and unequal leg length
  • Hip joint – dislocation, Legg–Calvé–Perthes disease, deformation of pelvic bones
  • Knees – osteochondrosis, meniscus dislocation, disjunction of knee-joint, joint pain
  • Foot – clubfoot correction via Ponseti method, flat–foot, hollow foot etc.
  • Child tumors and corresponding orthopaedical treatment
  • Treatment of neuromuscular diseases (care for the children with disabilities)
  • Fractures and traumas in children with metabolic disorders

Doctor Thielemann is a member of the German Society for Orthopaedics and Trauma (DGOU) and Association for Pediatric Orthopaedics (VKO).
